Quinoa. Quinoa, quinoa, quinoa.

In case you’re not already way too familiar with the term, 1) it’s prounced “keen-hwa” and 2) it’s pretty rage-alicious and fad-tacular. It’s a pseudocereal that’s acclaimed as a healthy alternate to rice. But is it really healthier than rice?

Turns out that Self Magazine has an awesome food comparison database.

Did anyone else know this? We didn’t. So here’s the side-by-side on Rice v. Quinoa. From here, it looks like they’re very comparable in most senses– except that quinoa has more dietary fiber.

Check out the full comparison at Self– rice is here and quinoa is here.

A more elaborate discussion of the healthy things quinoa provides that rice does not can be found at Well & Good.
