The Weekend Prep: Side-By-Side on Rice v. Quinoa

Quinoa. Quinoa, quinoa, quinoa.
In case you’re not already way too familiar with the term, 1) it’s prounced “keen-hwa” and 2) it’s pretty rage-alicious and fad-tacular. It’s a pseudocereal that’s acclaimed as a healthy alternate to rice. But is it really healthier than rice?
Turns out that Self Magazine has an awesome food comparison database.
Did anyone else know this? We didn’t. So here’s the side-by-side on Rice v. Quinoa. From here, it looks like they’re very comparable in most senses– except that quinoa has more dietary fiber.

I really like to put Quinoa in my salads. Actually...I'm hungry...I'm going to go do that right now.

I recently discovered quinoa--its great when you mix veggies into it!
I love using that food database! It's such a great resource because it gives the calories, but also more information, which has personally changed the way I look at the nutrition labels on foods!
