Now, more than ever, our tangible world and our digital world are one and the same.

Facebook. Instagram. Pinterest. Google. Twitter. YouTube. iBooks.

We experience more and more of our lives online. But I find it hard to believe that we don’t ever want to flip through a magazine, write a letter, have lunch with a galpal, or frame a picture for our room. There is still a place for tangible expressions and life mementos.

Everyone is buzzing about Facebook’s billion-dollar deal to acquire Instagram. And we should be! There’s nothing better than celebrating in the success of young professionals who have given us an innovative product that we love and seen major success in return. But what you probably haven’t heard amid all this “insta-success” is about the wicked cool Instaprint photo booth, which will dispense all those vintage-hued Instagram photos we are so enamored with.

No, this isn’t some Kodak photo printer for your home office that seems great in theory but never actually gets used. Rather, it is a networked photo booth for parties, gatherings or shows that is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.

Here’s the dish on Instaprint:

This modern-day Polarioid can be programed to look for specific hashtags or locations via its Wi-Fi capability, and any Instagram tagged appropriately will automatically be printed, without ink. That’s right, Instaprint uses inkless technology, pulling color right from the paper itself.

All those Instagram photos printed at the event will be automatically managed into an online gallery site, Instaprint.me, by using the set hashtag or location. Trending Instagrams? You get the picture. Instaprint, developed by the Brooklyn-based company Breakfast, is currently on Kickstarter but prototypes are already being rolled out at events and will soon be headed to a party near you.

So, smile! And say, “Insta”!
